Throwback Nation with Tony Lorino

 Weeknights | 7 pm – Midnight

After work, Tony Lorino now joins you every weeknight on 93.3 KIOA.  And, if you’ve listened to KIOA for a while, his name might be familiar.

Tony grew up in Wisconsin and came to Des Moines in the late 90s to attend Drake University where he majored in Journalism (and beer).  Though he thought he’d end up as the next Kevin Cooney or John Bachman on TV, Tony quickly learned that he’d have a lot more fun (and more beer) in radio and started working for KIOA and the Des Moines Radio Group.  He served as the afternoon traffic reporter and late-night host for a few years in the mid-2000s (while everyone else was out drinking beer) before moving home to be closer to his family in Wisconsin (where, you guessed it… beer).

Now, nearly 20 years after he made his KIOA debut, he’s THRILLED to be back on 93.3 KIOA every Monday through Saturday night, playing the greatest hits of the ’80s and ’90s, and scoping out the latest releases from Confluence, Big Grove, and the Iowa Tap Room.  (Some things never change.)

Tony is married to the amazing Kate (who is way out of his league), Dad to kindergarten twins Andrew & Charlotte, and dog dad to Zoe & Buddy, two poodle mix rescues.

Next time you see Tony out and about, make sure to say hi, and remind him, “Hey Tony, remember that night at West End back in the day?  I think you still owe me a beer!”

He probably does.
