Get ready to swing the weekend away at the Heartland Swing Festival 2017 which will be held at the historic Val-Air Ballroom and other venues around the Des Moines area, April 6 to 9!!
Plans call for this event to be Iowa’s largest swing dance with 4 nights of dances and contests, 40 hours of swing dance classes taught by nationally- and world-renowned instructors and over 400 dancers from all over the United States. This festival is open from beginners (no experience) to advanced swing dancers!

Live music will be provided by the NOLA Jazz Band and The Hot Swing Combo. Contests include the open Jack & Jill, the open fast dance, the newcomer strictly and the team.
The Thursday night (April 6) event will be held at the Des Moines Ballroom, 2745 Douglas Avenue, in Des Moines, and the other evening dances will take place at the Val Air Ballroom, 301 Ashworth Road, in West Des Moines. Classes will take place at Miss Kitty’s in Clive, the Dance-A-Cross studios in West Des Moines, and the West Des Moines Community Center in the Valley Junction area of West Des Moines.
Dancers may buy a weekend pass or attend just one of the Friday-Sunday night dances at the Val-Air Ballroom.
