9th Annual College Day: Iowa high school students and their parents have an opportunity to learn how they can prepare for college or other educational opportunities beyond high school. Students will receive valuable information, experience lunch on a college campus, and enter into a drawing for college giveaways, gift cards sponsored by Target and a Samsung Galaxy Tablet. Activities throughout the day will include a mini college fair, a college student panel, as well as interactive sessions on topics such as financial aid, college admissions, career exploration and financial literacy. In addition, scholarships will be given away to eligible high school seniors attending the event. Sponsored by the Des Moines NAACP Youth Council with community partners Drake University, GEAR UP Iowa, Iowa College Student Aid Commission, NAACP Economic Development Department, and Target.
