Dear KIOA Listeners,
Today was a good day as I got to enjoy lunch with Maxwell! I haven’t had a voice for nearly two weeks and I can’t tell you how frustrating it’s been. I picked up a virus that settled in my throat and because my immune system is shot from the chemo treatments, I didn’t have much fight in me. So damn it’s been quiet and I’ve been getting lots of rest.
I know Maxwell and Foxy have been doing a great job updating you as much as possible about my decision to take some time off. It was the right thing to do. Despite the fact that I love working with Max, I was feeling overwhelming pressure to be cheerful on days that I felt awful. Remember this is just a temporary situation as I get through a few more chemo treatments and my body starts to heal again and grow hair! (Santa hats are warm though.)
I had a couple of friends come over and help me decorate this year. Since my daughter and I have collected ornaments for years, it was nice to tell the stories again…like why I have a pink mermaid on the tree. Answer: 2003 Blues Cruise souvenir from Tortola in the British Virgin Islands! What a trip that was and it still makes me smile. So cancer is not stealing my holiday cheer. It’s making it more meaningful with time off to enjoy it.
Thank you for staying loyal to all of us—on or off KIOA—and enjoy the season.
