Holiday Open House –
Saturday, November 8th: 9am – 6pm

  • Historic Valley Junction is hosting a special shopping day  to benefit the Ronald McDonald House! On November 8th, shoppers are invited to see Valley Junction’s holiday displays, receive special discounts, prizes, free gift wrapping and help give back to families with children in the hospital.  During the event, participating stores will donate a percentage of their sales, and throughout the month of November, participating merchants will sell snow flakes for $1. All proceeds will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House.  Shoppers will have a chance to win a Valley Junction gift basket (valued at $500) and two tickets to Manheim Steamroller at the Des Moines Performing Arts Center.

Jingle in the Junction -
Thursday, November 20th: 5pm -9pm
Thursday, December 4th: 5pm -9pm
Thursday, December 11th: 5pm -9pm

  • Join us for “Jingle in the Junction” as the businesses in Historic Valley Junction and the streets will be lined with over 150,000 twinkling lights. Along with your old favorites, such as FREE horse drawn carriage rides, live reindeer, Santa, and caroling, many new activities will be offered this year. Watch Bill Gordish carve beautiful ice sculptures, go on our Ruby Slipper Scavenger Hunt, or vote on your favorite store’s Window Display!

Small Business Saturday -
Saturday, November 29th: All Day

  • Support local during Small Business Saturday in Historic Valley Junction!Small Business Saturday was started in 2010 as a counterpart to Black Friday and Cyber Monday as a way to encourage shoppers to patronize local businesses.  What better way to celebrate this holiday than by shopping in Historic Valley Junction!During this special shopping day, the first 300 shoppers to stop at Historic City Hall, 137 5th Street, will receive a Small Business Saturday reusable bag filled with goodies!  There will also be a free screening of the Wizard of Oz at the West Des Moines Community Center, 217 5th Street at 1 pm and 3 pm.Home to over 150 specialty shops, restaurants, and services and the single largest collection of independent businesses in Greater Des Moines, there’s a gift for everyone in Historic Valley Junction.  Many stores will have specials and refreshments available.

Historic Valley Junction is six blocks of specialty shops that include art galleries, antique shops, fashion boutiques, salons, service businesses and restaurants.
